MATT MONROE is a diverse musician who has played the horn for over 20 years.  His varied experiences include touring China as a chamber musician, teaching students at Oregon State University, and opening a Chicago Bulls game with the National Anthem.

As a French horn instructor, Matt has experience with all ages and abilities.  His students participate in the Chicago Youth Symphony, Midwest Young Artists, and the Merit School of Music's Tuition-free Conservatory where he is on faculty.  He is also the instructor at Whitney Young Magnet High School in Chicago. 

Matt's education began in Portland, Oregon under the instruction of William Stalnaker.  He graduated Magna cum laude from Arizona State University where he studied with Thomas Bacon.  He completed graduate study with Ellen Campbell at the University of Oregon, and received a Certificate in Performance degree from Northwestern University  where he studied with Gail Williams and William Barnewitz. 
Matt is Second Horn with both the Kalamazoo Symphony and the Oregon Ballet Theatre Orchestra, and is a member of the Fifth House Ensemble and the Millar Brass Ensemble.  He has played in backup orchestras with The Moody Blues, Pink Martini, Dave Brubeck, Bernadette Peters, Collin Raye, Garrison Keillor, and has recorded with the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra on their Grammy Award winning première of Krzysztof Penderecki's Credo.  He has also played with the Milwaukee Symphony, Chicago Philharmonic, Chicago Sinfonietta, New World Symphony, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Oregon Symphony, and the Eugene Symphony (where he was also the music librarian for a stint).
